A press release by Strategy Analytics predicts that although the 2005 holiday season
will give Microsoft a formidable edge, in the long run the PS3 will win out if Sony can get their online act together and
if the Cell processor performs as advertised.

And predicting that Sony will own 61% percent of the market of next-gen
consoles by 2007 actually represents a loss: currently Sony owns oughly 70% of the market with its PS2. Also, this report
of one of the more optimistic reports published. Other analysts have predicted a "best case" figure of 50%.
No one but J Allard, however, is predicting that the Xbox 360 will reach one billion consumers...eventually. By the way, their current console cost the division
about $2 billion, and reached roughly one million gamers. So that's, what, two thousand
dollars per gamer? So to reach one billion consumers, Microsoft may spend...the mind boggles with too many zeroes.
The video game industry has never been about profiting from
hardware sales, but estimated losses in the coming generation continue to climb. An analysis by Merrill Lynch Japan Securities
